More whale sharks: Photos

We saw whale sharks on what was actually a dive trip: our first dive trip together! Unfortunately, I have no dive photos to share. This was 2014, when photo packages were less ubiquitous and our camera tech less capable. The typhoon may have also played a role! So in this section, I will share a few more photos of our whale shark encounters, as well as a handful of other Cebu highlights – above and below the water!

We had one sunny day before bad weather arrived, and we spent it at the aptly named and thoroughly delightful White Beach.

This day also involved an excellent haircut at Roger’s Barber Shop…
… plus a tandem bike rental and a slurpee date! The life!
We also had a chance to climb a local mountain – but that’s a story for another time.
But mostly, heavy clouds, strong winds and drenching rains were the norm for this trip.
So we spent most of our time underwater!
We returned to Sardines, a popular dive and snorkel site, again and again to join the school!
Happy place, good vibes!
On our last day, Kent hops in and gets ready for…
…our first whale shark encounter!
These giant fish swam incredibly close to where we floated, clinging to our boat: our encounters were much closer than we expected!
We were able to have a good look at several individual’s unique spotting patterns!
The gentle giants were even visible from the surface!
