Peaks? Absolutely: big ones! Penguins? Definitely: little ones! Welcome to my paradise.
What a wonderful country this is! Ecuador captivates me, right down to the simple allure of it’s name. I can think of no other country as diverse as this one: packing a powerful punch of both peaks and penguins in one relatively small geographic area. Ecuador boasts both the soaring peaks of the Andes (including some of the highest active volcanoes on Earth!) and the lush, riotous green of the Amazon jungle – not to mention all that uniquely mesmerizing cloud forest in between. There’s the charming capital of Quito, a long and beachy coastline, and, best of all, the Galapagos Islands.
In an alternate universe, I’m living there now. I had to turn down a dream job offer and I think I’ll always wonder what might have been if I had gotten to live in one of the adventure capitals of the planet! Although that didn’t come to pass in this life, I did finally get to visit – after years and years of dreaming! Kent and I spent our ten year anniversary in Ecuador. It’s no exaggeration to say it was truly the time of our lives. Once in a lifetime was such a gift – but the truth is, I’d love to go back anytime!
